Design Engineer (Carlsbad, California)

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager

Compensation:

Summary of Position: 

Design Engineers hold primary responsibility for the entire product lifecycle, from new product design and development, modification requests to existing products to meet specific customer needs and requirements, and mechanical and electrical assembly design, primarily using Solid Works.

Electronics Technician (Carlsbad, California)

Compensation:

Summary of Position: 

  • Lays out, builds simple actuator demonstration kits
  • Tests, troubleshoots and repairs electro-mechanical actuator systems applying principles and theories of electronics/circuitry

Education:

Manufacturing Engineer (Carlsbad, California)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Designs and improves manufacturing process, procedures and production layouts for electromechanical assembly lines and CNC machining cells.  Incorporates inspection and test equipment and documentation for assembly and machining processes. Goal is fast delivery of 100% inspected high quality products at the lowest cost.  Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. 

Education: 

  • Bachelors in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering required

Required Experience: 

  • Minimum 4 years professional experience as manufacturing engineer
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Access, Word, Excel)

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

CNC Machine Set-up/Programmer (Carlsbad, California)

Description:
High volume manufacturing company in Carlsbad has immediate openings for experienced CNC Set-up/Programmer.
Positions for 1st and 2nd shift.
Compensation is $20 per hour

Key Skills and Competencies:
Minimum 2-3yrs doing the following:
  • Set ups, programming (edit), offsets and changeovers on CNC lathes and vertical mills
  • First article inspection using precision measuring instruments 
  • Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a good understanding of shop math
  • Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for quality parts produced on CNC lathes and vertical mills.
  • Responsible for loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements
  • Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements
  • Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
  • Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

CNC Operator/Deburrer (Carlsbad, California)

Description:
Full time openings for 1st and 2nd shift CNC Operator/Deburrer. Previous experience for this position not required.  Training provided. 

This position reports to CNC Shop Manager.

Job Duties:
  • Cut raw material to be machined
  • Load raw metal stock into machine
  • Unload machined parts
  • Deburr machined parts
  • Inspect machined parts
     
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Working near moving mechanical parts

Servo Motor Design Engineer (Carlsbad, California)

SMAC is expanding its new HT (High Torque) DC brushless servo design team. Our HT motors are a technically advanced design that uses Halbach magnets and SMAC’s patented Printed Coil technology. SMAC makes its own encoders and micro controller amplifiers as well. The sales strategy is to develop OEM specific motors for customers in the US, Asia, and Europe. 
 
Compensation: 
  • Salary range: $95 - $100K - DOE

Position Summary:
Designing magnetic circuits, coils and mechanical parts out of our Carlsbad, CA design HQ with support from groups in New Hampshire, Iowa, and Singapore.

  • Magnetic circuit, coils and mechanical part design via Solid Works
  • Generating technical drawings via Solid Works
