Linear Rotary Actuators

SMAC provides a comprehensive selection of combined linear and rotary actuators with either direct drive or gearbox equipped rotary units. They can easily be programmed to control force/torque, position and velocity in all axes at the same time. The actuator has SMAC's unique "Soft-Land" function which enables the unit to gently land on a delicate component with a controlled force to avoid damage of both the component and the actuator. This makes them ideal for applications such as pick and place and assembly.

Standard linear resolution on all SMAC actuators is 5µm with 1µm, 0.5µm and 0.1µm options available on most models. The rotary resolution varies between 2,000 to 28,000 counts for gearbox units and 20,000 counts for the direct drive. Higher rotary encoder resolution and alternative geared motors to increase torque/gear ratio are also available. Please contact us with any special requirements you may have.

NOTE: SMAC requires that all units must be operated at less than 40% maximum duty cycle. Please see the Tech Info/Set up Information page or manual for further explanation on how to calculate duty cycle.

We manufacture actuators to suit our customers' requirements. Please call us if you do not find the right actuator in this list.

Options and Modifications:

Encoder resolutions	5µm standard, 1µm, 0.5µm and 0.1µm optional for most units. Consult factory for availability.
Shaft ends	Male, Female, Blank and Custom (check availability of custom option)
Return spring	Prevents the shaft from dropping during vertical operation when power is cut.
Vacuum through the shaft	For pick and place applications
Extended nose bushing	For tighter shaft run-out and higher side load onto the shaft.
Increase of maximum force and acceleration	48 volt coil and double coil options are available for some units with 24 volt single coil. Please consult factory for availability.
Increase of torque/gear ratio	Alternative geared motors are available for some units.
Rotary encoder resolution	Consult factory for higher resolution.
Increase of force accuracy and lifetime	Extra long life linear guide / Low friction linear guide
